Audio Books
Just like all other activities in life, if you love something you will have no problem slotting it into a busy schedule. I love to read like nothing else so I generally slot a good three hours a day in no matter how crazy it gets!

Audio Books
But let’s face it - you need free time to read, and who has free time if you’re a working mother or father?
Enter the audiobook, which is essentially a recording of the spoken version of a book.
Thumbs up to the audiobook because it allows us to read a book without committing the time. Audiobooks can be enjoyed whilst carrying out other activities. Many people enjoy nothing more than an audiobook whilst driving to and from work every day. Audiobooks can be enjoyed whilst walking to work too! Let’s face it, audiobooks allow us to punch an extra activity into a normally jam-packed day!
If you don’t actually like to physically read a book, a pair of ears and an imagination is all you need as you enjoy a story without straining your eyes! So I say, thank goodness for audiobooks because they allow you to enjoy a book in the most convenient of ways.
Where did this incredible invention the audiobook originate? It is thought the very first audiobook was invented in 1931 for the Talking Book Program. The USA Congress implemented the Talking Book Program for the Books for Adult Blind Project. A year later mass production of audiobooks was underway!
In so many different ways, the audiobook slots into our busy modern lives. They are incredible teaching aids (you can learn many academic and non-academic subjects while carrying out other activities) and arguably, when you are sleeping as well as enjoyed whilst commuting to work.
But what of the digital age? Has digital technology left the audiobook behind? The answer is a resounding ‘no’!!!
As the days of the audiobook cassette slip even further into the recesses of our past, the MP3 player is taking the audiobook into the 21st century with gusto! Audiobooks continue in their popularity in the form of microdrive hard disks and flash memory cards and are loved by people of all ages and cultures. No more plodding off down to the high street to pick from one of the few audiobook options on the shelves because huge ranges of books can now be easily and rapidly downloaded off the internet through our computers and onto our MP3 players.
