Science Self Confidence
How do people become popular in their social circle?

I am very intrested in social science and was just wondering what makes people more popular than others. Is it the aspect of Karma, e.g doing good things for others, self confidence or just being funny? best answer will be given

There's a fantastic, interesting book about this kind of thing called 'The Social Psychology of Everyday Life' by Michael Argyle. Hard to find, but worth it. Really interesting, whether you're studying social science or not.

From what I remember, he states that a big part of popularity is self disclosure, ie: telling people about yourself and your day to day life. The less private you are, the more popular you'll be. This really surprised me when I read it, because who likes people who talk about themselves all the time? Then I started looking at my own friends, colleagues and family, and sure enough, the most popular ones were the ones who gave everyone plenty of information about themselves.
