South Beach Diet

You have to starve to lose weight, right? Wrong! I always thought that the only way to lose a few pounds was starving myself to that the weight was gone. How wrong I was.

When I first heard about the South Beach diet, and watching people around me eating all kinds of great food, I thought it was just another fad diet that would disappear after everyone has reported did not work. But it works. People lose weight and eat too.

Completely shocked to see how the food my brother has been eating on the program, I logged on the South Beach Diet website to find what it was. That's where I learned the truth about dieting simple: not only you must not starve yourself to lose weight - you actually lose more weight if you eat!

Unlike many other diets that make you count calories, counting carbs and either eliminate all fats and proteins, or gorge on them all day, South Beach does need something to count, and it lets you eat plenty of nutritious food like all other people around you.

Developed by a cardiologist advanced research with the Mount Sinai Medical Center, I found South Beach to be completely safe and heart healthy - a plus for someone like me in their 50s who is worried about their cholesterol and what it does to their heart.

Unable to completely abandon the food - even to lose a few pounds - I was delighted to discover that the South Beach Diet would allow me to eat to be satisfied, so I chose the most nutritious foods like fruits and vegetables, lean meats, cheeses and snacks low sugar content.

Scrambled eggs for breakfast, all kinds of soups and salads for lunch and many grilled or fried fish, chicken, pork and lean beef are accepted in all phases II and III. Believe it or not, the dessert is not even off limits with this plan.

So how does South Beach work If you are allowed to continue eating until you're full? The answer is in Phase I, incidentally, is the hardest part of the program. During this initial period of 2 weeks time, the plan does severely restrict what you can eat but not how much you can eat.

During the first two weeks of the South Beach diet, the disciples must renounce all sugars and carbohydrates to break the unhealthy dependency of their bodies with processed foods, starches and sugars.

Since you basically "the cold turkey "on sugar and carbohydrates, you can expect to feel pretty lousy for days. I have personally experienced the evils headache, severe apathy and eccentricity. But to be honest, it did not last long, and since I had many other food choices to keep me feeling full, I was not hungry at all.

Once my addiction to food junky was broken, and glucose in my body could naturally even out and stay at the same level throughout the day, I suddenly felt a burst of energy, as I had not had in years. No more ups and downs during the day based snack food I was counting on me to continue. Better yet, my cravings Sugar and carbohydrates are disappearing - a miracle!

Once my addiction was broken and my cravings subsided during the phase I have been able to reintroduce some of these forbidden foods like bread, brown rice, fresh fruit, juice and even some desserts. It is funny, but my carb addiction broken, I do not want those foods not as I had, and a few bites of baked potato with a beautiful song chicken and grilled vegetables straight from my garden this satisfies me.

Shortly after I was noticing that my pants were bigger and my waist is smaller, all while I continue to eat as much as I want foods that are good for me.

I can honestly that South Beach has been less of a diet for me and an awakening about how I can feel good to eat foods that my body the most merit. Try it. You'll be surprised to see how you feel - and look!
