Mankind has been fascinated by the concept of life existing on other worlds for hundreds of years. Incidents such as the phenomenon Roswell have done nothing but inspire even more fascination in aliens.
The concept of life on other worlds has occupied the imagination largely attributable to the issue that if we were to be visited by people of one of these people places to be inhabited. Perhaps the first book ever to speculate what might transpire Faced with this situation was the War of the Worlds by HG Wells. The War of the Worlds is considered the first example of the invasion subgenre of science fiction.
The story revolves around London in the 1800s that the earth is invaded by hostile Martians seek to make the land of their own home. As the war rages on, with devastating results for us Earthlings, a man tries to make his wife and security.
The story proved so popular that it has captivated his audience. In 1938, Orson Welles's Mercury program Radio Theater produced a radio program that has sent everyone who had taught in the frenzy is because it has been distributed as if it were an actual news program.
The program, while having catastrophic results, proved be very popular among listeners who had kept their minds. The show has even been broadcast every year in some cities the night of Halloween as a tradition. It was then, in 1953, a film was produced, which has modernized the story to reflect the Cold War fears of the population U.S.. Then, in 2005, Academy Award winning director Steven Spielberg announced he would direct his own version of science-fiction classic.
In the retelling of 2005, we focus on Ray Ferrier (played by Tom Cruise), a self-absorbed longshoreman who must take care of her two children, Robbie (Justin Chatwin) and Rachel (Dakota Fanning), while their mother and stepfather were out of town.
This becomes complicated when the earth is invaded by aliens from an unnamed planet. Ray, who has no respect for her children, trying to take them across the country in an effort to reunite them with their mother and stepfather, so they can be safe from invaders.
The film succeeds in its attempts to show how the world would be affected by this invasion with some strong images using reminisce images of 9 / 11.
The film has a strong act, with the regulator to another type of character that his usually confident action hero-oriented characters. Good performances also come from Chatwin and Fanning since both interact realistically as brothers and sisters.
