What's a Stephen King book that's really scary and a really good read?
My girlfriend and I picked up a collection of short stories by Stephen King called "Just After Sunset" and we are really enjoying it. It's a good read, has great imagery, but most of the stories aren't really scary.
What King novel is really scary yet has that "can't wait to find out what happens next" feeling? I'm thinking we might shy away from ones we've seen the movie adaptation of since we don't want that to taint our read.
"The Stand" is my favorite, too. It always seems like I pick it up right before flu season every time I read it...
I would definitely recommend "Cell," it's scary for a lot of the same reasons that "The Stand" is. I hear it's due for a film adaptation pretty soon. "Gerald's Game" was utterly terrifying, but it's a little slow getting started. "IT" gave me nightmares, and I watch and read a ton of horror without getting nightmares. "Skeleton Crew" has the scariest short stories.
