recommended books to read on dating for people with asperger's syndrome?
Please take this question seriously and also please don't get offended by my beliefs. I'm 21 years old, have asperger's syndrome/OCD, and my mom has never had the courage to talk to me or my sis about intercourse relationships and what boundaries we should give ourselves. Therefore, she gave both my sister and I a book to read called, "Boundaries in Dating
by Henry Cloud, John Townsend, John Townsend, John Sims Townsend." My sis read the whole thing, but I only read two chapters, and every page I turned, it had a bible verse. To me, that's a complete distraction. I rather read a book that better explains about dating/relationships than reading a book that keeps pulling out bible verses. I would appreciate if anybody out there can give me some names of any recommended books for a person with asperger's syndrome to read to give me tips on dating, something easy for me to understand. Thank you.
I would try to keep talking to your mom or another trusted family member about this issue, but I understand that can be hard.
I really like "Your Life is Not a Label: A Guide to Living Fully with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome" by Jerry Newport. He also has Asperger's, and gives very good advice. I have not read them, but he has also written two books about the topics that you're asking about.
Just search Amazon.com for "Jerry Newport" and you should be able to find them. Good luck!
