Grammar Snobs Are
Looking in a mirror lately to make sure you are presentable? Or at least the transmission of your favorite picture? Hair combed? Cleaning your teeth? No malfunction of clothes?
Probably yes, given the rather neglected real people I see. But I still write bad spots everywhere I look.
Why can not people be proud of their printed words? Negligence About grammar, spelling, and misusage word is rampant. And it can hurt your image, as well as the mode errors or strong body odor.
For example, I was struck on the head with the following just in recent weeks:
* Wrong word in a document by an employee of a Fortune 500 company admired: "We are working with them to ensure they are exposed and publications .... "
* Misspelled word in an e-mail with personal a company outsourcing one of the most respected Fortune 500 company: "Thanks for the informaiton you have provided.
* Weird page numbering of another outsourcing company for yet another famous Fortune 500: Page 5 4.
Yes, everyone (including myself) make mistakes. But we have tools such as spell checking and colleagues for help us. And you're giving points to the evidence, requesting an action, or tell a good story, you need proof of your work.
A Once you use the spell checker, try these five ways to check your writing.
1.Develop it aside for a while and then re-read.
2.Even best is read aloud.
3.Print outside and read. (Yes, this is not a green solution, but it litter is better than bad grammar.)
4.Ask someone to read to you.
5.Read upside down or right to left.
Errors may not only tarnish your reputation, but also those associated with you. For example, the manager outsourcing company that misspelled "Information" also hurt the spelling of my client, removing about 30% of the letters.
I offered him buy vowels when I paid for my work. I also said if I did not know his business better, I'd ask if I wanted to be in connection with an outsourcing company as sloppy as this one.
Yes, I am a snob. I think it shows respect for your readers use correct grammar and spelling. It also saves time when you write and spell correctly.
For example, consider "poor" and "learn", "it's" and "sound", and "our" and " are. "Change password, change the meaning.
