Lead Field Earl
After winning the trophy for Outstanding Comedy Series Emmys in the last year, the office is once again well positioned to win the category this year. It stands out among the other shows nominated for best comedy series, namely, 30 Rock, Entourage, Ugly Betty and Two and a Half Men.
The Bureau has six major categories in the 2007 list of candidates Emmy. Apart from the best comedy series, Steve Carell has also obtained the green light for the second consecutive year for outstanding lead actor in a comedy. He shared the field with Alec Baldwin from "30 Rock, Charlie Sheen of Two and a Half Men, Ricky Gervais of Extras and last year's winner, Tony Shalhoub of Monk. Interestingly, Ricky Gervais had played in the original Version of The Office and even one of the executive producers of American production.
Outside of Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson and Jenna Fischer also earned acting nominations for the popular sitcom. It is the largest number of acting nominations, the Board has never received the Emmys. Wilson was nominated for supporting actor, while Fischer was cited for excellence in supporting actress. Greg Daniels and Michael Schur has been appointed for excellence in Writing for a Comedy Series, while Ken Kwapis got the green light for Best Director.
While Steve Carell seems to be the heavy favorite in its class, Rainn Wilson facing fierce competition from a very stacked field. His co-applicants include Entourage Kevin Dillon, Jeremy Piven, Neil Patrick Harris of How I Met Your Mother and Jon Cryer of two and a half men.
As for Fischer, she finds herself in a contest six courses with Jaime Pressly of My Name is Earl, Holand Taylor and Conchata Ferrell of Two and a Half Men, Vanessa Williams of Ugly Betty and Elizabeth Perkins of Weeds.
