Lectures Physics Volumes

I had been basic science lectures in universities in Africa, when African countries have changed their fps system the ES. An extremely interesting and exciting!
It took several years to fully accomplish the change.
Surprisingly, change has been more visible and easier to do business (packaging, volumes, sales), industry (re-tooling), shops and streets (km positions, speed signs, change a right hand drive) in a university laboratory. Why did they succeed in using relatively smooth? You may say that if "there is a will there is way". Although it is true, countries were less developed and changes had not met with great resistance. It requires the mobilization of civil organizations, enterprises and government agencies (including the police!)
At that time there were some good books for basic physical science students. However, most of them were written by English and American writers using fps system. There was no book for students of experimental science, where data processing all quantities must be measured and the responses expressed in SI units. Students do not know what is the meter is what "nano" or "giga" average. Similarly there was no "conversion" of fear, thus hindering the introduction of SI in the United States mainly by older generation.
The metric system is not the idea of communists! " Already in June 1799, the French Assembly officially adopted the system "for all peoples for all time". With a growing demand from industry and business, the system evolved constantly modern metric system, if accepted by scienntists, engineering and business around the world. I think step conversion system Metric accepting officially by the U.S. and introduce it in stages in a more legalized, with parallel education, help better communication with other countries in the world in many areas.
You may compare learning a new system with learning a new language. Is it necessary to convert "constant"? Over time "conversion" fades ...
At university, the problem moved to the mathematical manipulation of the power of ten notation, the SI prefixes, SI units, inter-conversion system meter, taking readings from instruments metric, accuracy, precision and uncertainty of measurement or calculated quantities. The lack of materials with adequate presentation of these issues to students at that time, prompted me to write the book for students of courses in science and engineering science experiments on these issues.
About the Author:
Wacek Kijewski: born in Poland, studied electronics, telecommunication, acoustics and pedagogy. He taught science in Poland, Hungary and became Lecturer and Principal Tutor in Nigeria and Botswana.
Wacek Kijewski is the author of stimulating and entertaining resource material on experimental science: "SI Units, Conversion and Measurement Skills" (the 2009 edition, ISBN 0620340584, 186 pp, USD 139). SI/metric system is presented in a student friendly manner. It contains many amusing facts, problems, anecdotes, puzzles and illustrations.
The book is recommended for students and lecturers of post-16 science and engineering courses. Visit his website: http://www.wacek.co.za and http://books.google.com/books?isbn=0620340584.
