Novel Mary Higgins

In a group book'related LinkedIn where I belong, someone posed the question: When is a good time to start marketing a book? While still writing the book, while looking for an agent or a publisher, while going through the process of self-publishing? When the book is available on Amazon?
There are few certain answers to this question except one: It's a little late to start marketing your book when it is already out on Amazon.
So what is the answer to when is the best time to start marketing a book? It depends.
And this depends on what a large number of variables, including what's your first book, you already have a reputation line, are you a famous journalist, who is preparing to write a first novel, and any other variable that you care to name. (Such as, did you a family name famous as the daughter of Mary Higgins Clark was when she started writing mysteries?)
If we can agree that we can not pinpoint an exact right time applies to all, is there general guidelines that can help all writers?
Yes, I believe it exists. First, if you're interested in online promotion, the sooner you start to impose online best. And first step is to decide your mark as a book author.
What I mean by brand? I mean, how you plan to position yourself in your marketing and promotion. What you apart from other writers of fiction like non-fiction? What will people interested in you (and you hopefully want to buy your book)?
The development strategies of your brand definitely take place as soon as possible in the quest to publish your book. And as part of this branding, it is very important to consider the proposed title of your book. This is particularly relevant if you're going to self-publish. Even if you love the title you have chosen check it with others.
Does the title of your book "read" the way you think it is? Or is it your tile proposed have a different meaning to some people? For example, today I saw someone Title of the proposed work, it will be very difficult remember, much less out on Amazon or a URL. This is probably not the best name for a book.
And the title stand out? Done creating an image in the mind of a potential reader is if he / she can remember the title? A generic title such as "Good Road" does not create an image Specifically, while "Six Sunny Days in Paris" creates a strong sense memory.
Once you are clear about your brand and good "working" title of the book (may still change it), you can start adding items to your brand positioning.
You may, for example, ask someone to create short videos (less than three minutes) of talk about the steps you go through in research and writing your book. Then you can use software such as Sony Vegas Movie Studio for editing video and putting text such as your name and, if you have a site, the URL of your website on the video.
And you can download these short videos on YouTube and other videos sharing sites. Remember, it is important to tag these videos with words that relate well to you and your brand so that people will more easily find your videos.
You can start a blog, detailing the stages of your book and shared with sample chapters readers your blog. Getting early feedback may help you refine your book. And you propose to write messages to the user other blogs, again staying true to your brand in what you offer to write.
And then you're ready for a website - a site you can control yourself, without waiting for days for your web master to make a little change. That's why I recommend having someone you build a website using WordPress.org. Once all the backend steps are done, you have a website (and blog if you want) that is hosted on your own website and can be fully controlled (read "change") by you.
Finally, it is time to establish a genuine presence on social media sites like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, sites and books and other media sites social. Gradually establish your presence on these sites by engaging in conversations with others, offering advice if you can, and establish relationships that will be useful when your book is published.
Having a website or at least a blog hosted on another site, such as blogger.com gives you your own scene visibility when you set up your profiles on social media sites. Using the URL of your website or blog in the context that you are on the Internet, you are more firmly establishing a foundation for the online publication of your book and marketing.
