Potter Prisoner Azkaban
In a world where women can not have babies and hope for the future of the human race lies with the myth of a group of people trying to save humanity through the human project, Theodore "Theo" Faron said that nothing remains of mankind and that all it will end in the fifties. This is the basic premise director Alfonso Cuaron's CHILDREN OF MEN which stars Clive Owen as Theo, Julianne Moore as his ex-wife alienated and leader reistence Julian Taylor, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael Caine, who complete the cast. Similar to the more overtly sci fi films BLADE RUNNER and Screamers, children of men pesimistic brings his point of view of the future and put a few decades of the modern era.
The story is about Theo, a man who, having lost all hope and reason to live when his son died, to help Kee (Claire-Hope Ashitey), the pregnant woman the first time in more than eighteen years for the human project, which will protect her and her baby from the political unrest that shook the world.
The film itself is a return as Director Cuaron more intimate films, like his Y Tu Mama También, following the more commercial HARRY POTTER and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Great Expectations (1998) and a little princess.
Although predictable in its plot structure CHILDREN OF MEN prevails through the outskirts of casting in particular Ashitey newcomer who brings gentle humor to the role which stems from the nature and Kee tries to cope with being the first woman to be pregnant eighteen. There are many unanswered questions in the structure of the film which may turn off some viewers, but Cuaron is more motivated by creating excitement about the circumstances of the characters that explain how things became what it is in his futuristic world.
Director photography Emmanuel Lubezki returns Cuaron have worked with three of his four previous films. He brings the same sense of beauty and menace in this film he did with the NEW WORLD. Even in a world slowly decomposing itself Cuaron wants you to believe that by the end of the film there still hope.
