Progress John Bunyan

Travel writing is a major genre. Go to any bookstore and see the vast range of messages to travel to call on all types and taste. There are travel books for food lovers of food, historical Travelogues for historians, Travel books for the irreverent comedy, and every other imaginable slant on travel. But where does this desire to travel the other begins?
An early European travel accounts, when the writer visited the sake of Travel and writes the following was written strangely, not for the age Gold of Greece or Rome, but in the year 1336 AD Petrarch, an Italian scholar, poet and a leading humanist of the Renaissance - Man credited with perfecting the sonnet and make one form of art the most perfect date - has climbed Mount Ventoux and writes the result. It was a climb that leads to much more than the view he describes his account or the satisfaction of reaching the summit. It introduced a new activity to humanity: the writing of travel.
True to the genre as well, Petrarch was essential to his companions travel or, in this case, those who refused to accompany him. He described his companions who stayed at the bottom of the slope incuriosity frigida, an insult which fell just before calling them stupid. A rough translation is "man with a lack of curiosity cold." Petrarch not only talked about the work that involved in reaching the summit, but went a little overboard, according to today's standards, which makes comparisons between allegorical climbing of the mountain and his own moral progress in life. It was a sort of Pilgrim's vertical progression, but it would be several centuries before John Bunyan followed the example of Petrarch.
Then there was Michaults size, a poet to the Duke of Burgundy, who traveled through the Jura Mountains in 1430 and his reflections diarized personal, which included naked terror when faced with steep rock walls and blind fear when observing waterfalls cascade.
At the same time, Antoine de la Sale, author of Petit Jehan de Saintre, climbed into the crater of a volcano in Lipari Islands in 1407 and recorded his impressions. He made his start for the ascent to the "youth councils crazy."
In the middle the 15th century, Gilles de Bouvier gave an explanation why it should be delicious travel and write. In his book describing the country, he writes: "Because many people of different nations and countries enjoy and have fun like I did in the past, seeing the world and things therein, and also because that many want to know without going there, and others want to see him go, and travel, I started this little book. "
In 1589, Richard Hakluyt published Travels, a text that became the model for such travel literature for many centuries.
In the 18th century literature Travel was commonly known as the Book of Voyages, and in most cases these consisted of diaries and maritime public never tired of them. Diaries of Captain James Cook (1784) were the equivalent of the best sellers today. In the 18th century wrote travel matured as that kind. Every writer had a travel book or two and today nothing has changed in this regard.
Other examples later, the Travel literature include accounts of the Grand Tour countless messages by aristocrats, clergy, and others with money and time free, who has traveled to Europe to learn about art and architecture of its past. The Grand Tour tradition lasted well into the 20th century and was another feature of the Belle Epoque (1920). Another pioneer of travel literature was Robert Louis Stevenson in the late 19th century, whose "Journey with a Donkey "has brought a light tone to the genre.
