QUESTION: Why have we chosen to come here when we were already part of God begin?
BAWA MUHAIYADDEN: Good question. The soul is a part of God and your reason for coming here is to understand and you understand. You are come here to see what God is like and what you like. You should know what God is, what you are and what creation is.
This world is a school, university. You came here in this school to study God's secret and your secret. God created this place if you could understand and know how is powerful, and you could understand and all creation. You came here to do the test and pass it.
A mother gives birth to a child, then just keep at home? If you had to stay home all the time, how could you understand the world and its wonders?
Your mother and your father send you to school. Why? Because they want to help you study, learn and understand the world, you and all wonders. They want you to know what truth is. This is why your parents sent you to school, so schools were built. Your parents want you to understand things.
God is not the same thing. He sent his children to this school so they can understand more about him. It is the world of the soul, this world and the world of the heart, which has within it eighteen miles universe, paradise, God and yourself. We must understand this.
The world is an example. God is the Creator of all causality, the internal heart (qalb) is an effect, and you the basic principle. In the example of the world, you the basic principle involves cases in yourself and him who is the cause of everything. You must understand Father. That's why you came here.
Your father sent you here to study. Just as your parents send you to school, God sent you into this world to learn more about the eighteen thousand worlds, this world, the world of the soul, the life-world, the world of wisdom, world of divine wisdom (Gnanam), the peaceful world of paradise and the world of perfection, purity and splendor. He sent you so that you know your father. This just a school.

Oh man, no matter what you studied or how much you studied, do not follow the paths of your mind with pride in your learning. Ask a man of wisdom who is on the path and follow his instructions. If you do not meet a man of wisdom, lay your heart open and ask even a tree or wall. The power of God in your heart called conscience will caution and guide you. He will say: "Go, or" Do not go, "right" or "poor." If your heart is open, your conscience will provide useful fruit that will benefit your journey through life.
