How to Create Podcast Audio Tape Media From The digital revolution has made more of a state of utter confusion when it dealing with older / analog audio technology. Many of us still use the familiar old cassette deck to record our sound, but become quite befuddled when it comes time to transfer that audio into the digital environment. I still have that image in my head my clients standing with RCA audio cables - staring at their computer - Wondering how to get audio from source to destination. This tutorial is intended to help these confused masses. I preface the tutorial in saying that this is not the ideal way to create media podcast. However, people should stick to what they're comfortable with. If this audio tape - then by all means - go for it! Maybe someday you'll invest in a unit of good MP3 recording - but until then - not biggie.So - Let's get started. Hardware / Hardware Needed

1. Standard audio cassette player. I highly recommend using a good quality player - because it has the ideal output port on it built in. I do not recommend the use your home stereo cassette deck for this procedure - because your deck is most likely either RCA (nothing good) and a 1 / 4 plug (if you're lucky.)
2. A 1 / 8 "to 1 / 8" mini connector. You know the small connector plug, which is the end of your helmet? This cable has two of them - one at each end. You can buy these cables at almost any electronics store. (If you must use your deck stereo - and if it comes with a 1 / 4 "jack - you can probably find a 1 / 4" to 1 / 8 "long rope.)
3. Although sound card to your computer with a line "in" Jack (like the audio output jack. If you purchased your computer in recent years - you probably already have a sound card sufficient for this process.) Familiarize yourself with the location of the map and find the line "in" Jack.

The software needed

1. Audio Recording Software with noise reduction filters. I recommend Audacity - it's free and as easy to use.

Step 3: Start Audacity and look for the Input menu down. It is on the top right of the screen. Click on the tab and select "Line In". Step 4: Adjust the volume of your portable medium / Low. Rewind the tape and Play.Step press 5: Press "Record" in Audacity Select and check the audio levels being brought in. If levels are too high (hot) your audio will be distorted. You'll know if the sound is "hot" if the travel levels too far to the right. If it the case, either adjust the volume from the player or the audio input levels in the software compensate.Step 6: After finding the record level perfect, you're ready. Rewind the tape. Press "save" button in Audacity and press "play" on your walkman.Step 7: Review your audio. If you're happy with it, save it and start to tweak with noise reduction software.Step 8: Save your audio file. mp3 format. You're done!
