Most charismatic leaders have the same characteristics, and characteristics Behavioral. Many are considered to have almost supernatural powers and revered by their followers. We see in many evangelical leaders best known as Reverend Billy Graham or Joel Osteen. In addition, these leaders tend to generate almost instant trust between their followers as Gandhi or Martin Luther King. Finally, they earn their leadership not because they occupy an important position in a company or a government but because of their ability naturally attract followers.
The positive traits of the charismatic leader
Most charismatic leaders are able to lead others to understand their vision and goals through the use of simple stories that everyone can understand. And most importantly, charismatic leadership followers can see clearly their place in this glorious vision so they are more likely to vigorously defend their leader. The charismatic leader uses his charm, imagination and inspiration to build a utopian future.
The negative traits of a charismatic leader
Charismatic leadership may also have its bad side. Many of these leaders can not achieve their objectives through extreme personal sacrifice. Often family members suffer so the leader in May to succeed. In addition, a charismatic leader usually try to move rapidly towards its goal. This may cause discomfort among some of his supporters who think it is moving fast. This could lead to disgruntled ex-follower, which can promote the bad press is the chief agency in a bad light.
Two extremes
One of the most charismatic leaders in the positive history is Mahatma Gandhi. By maintaining his humility and an example of integrity, honesty and peaceful civil disobedience, he was able to achieve independence from India.
A very bad example of a charismatic leader is Adolph Hitler. His ability to sway supporters to his way of thinking has been shown in his speech about his vision of a superior race. He could talk to thousands of people at once you could hear a pin drop the audience was so mesmerized by his words.
Business and Charisma
Charismatic leadership in business can have its advantages and disadvantages. A charismatic leader is an excellent choice for a company that is forced to significantly alter its vision. Perhaps its main product is not as popular in the past and the company is forced to find another product to keep it profitable. A charismatic leader can inspire and motivate employees easy to accept this change.
A major problem with charismatic leaders is to find a successor to continue the same vision with much zeal and desire. In addition, a charismatic leader motivates by force of personality. It may not have other characteristics that are necessary for be an effective leader when the vision is achieved.
